Hoda's hair-raising beauty treatment

Fear the frizz, indeed.

Hoda Kotb underwent a Brazilian Keratin hair treatment yesterday and discussed the process this morning with co-host Kathie Lee. The treatment aims to smooth, straighten and tame otherwise unruly hair.

Although Hoda was hesitant to take the plunge, both Kathie Lee and frequent contributor Jill Martin experienced the treatment, to satisfying results.

Check out the video below that shows Hoda's hair before -- "when left to its own devices" -- and after.

What do you think about hair treatment? To what extremes do you go to straighten, smooth or color?

I am appalled with Kathie Lee and the Staff making fun of Hoda's "unruly" hair. The majority of the world does not have straight, thin hair. What example are we setting, especially to our young girls, that if their hair is different from society's definition of norm then their hair is ugly, unaccepted and needs to be changed. Katie Lee's poor self image is shown when she constantly talks about herself needing to loose weight or insults "pretty" guests. If I hear her talk about her diet again, I will vomit. Again, what example is she setting?? The constant ridicule of Hoda by Katie Lee is shameful and the jokes are stale. Hoda may be smiling on the outside when made fun of, but on the inside, I'm sure she does not think this is funny anymore. I can see it on her face. Also, Kathie Lee making fun of her being single is not only rude but insensitive and embarrassing. Hoda is an intelligent anchor, reporter and host and is above this. I have tried to watch this show, many times in disgust, today was the last straw. I will no longer watch this show.

I agree with your comments. I can only surmise that NBC execs don't read this blog or the KLG&Hoda Facebook page because the comments about KLG are constant and consistent. Rude, interrupts guests, self-promoter. I think it is revolting watching her on a food segment, picking things out of dishes made by reknowned chefs. Stuffing her mouth. She must be a real hit at her Beverly Hills society lunches. It baffles me that no changes are made after the sheer volume of negative comments posted on both sites.

We all need to breathe in and breathe out a few times. This was no different from the no makeup day. Most women look better with a little makeup. Most people women look like Morticia Adams if they don't even comb their hair. Full stop. No, we don't all have to have straight, 'perfect' hair. We do, however, need to have good grooming. Yes, Kathie Lee works my last nerve, but she doesn't feed me, f-ck me, or finance me. Why get that worked up over anything she has to say? She's a face on television. nothing more. Absolutely nothing more.

I am more concerned with the chemicals in this new sensational product. How do we know what possible damage will be done? When it's too late? Treatment for hair certainly goes on the scalp and, of course, that's a little too close for me to the brain. As a cancer survivor, why take so many chances?

I can tell you as a stylist, that the Brazilian Keratin treatment that I USE IS FREE OF CHEMICALS! And is applied one inch off the scalp. I will have to agree with you about the other straightening treatments that have small traces of formaldahyde. I believe that they are being pulled at this point. I also want to make a point to anyone inquiring about this treatment that they request a copy of the msds sheet. A reputable business would have them.

I am a forced viewer who got unemployed last year, and watching today's show is a torture, with all politics going on....Matt Lauer, Meredith and Ann curry trying to push out Natalie Morales is so evident. I would call these old people jackasses who keep trying to protect their ownership of the show. I never see mention of the fact that Natalie is a co-anchor of the show as much as these typical jackasses, the list of these things is endless and very apparent (you would find these jackasses in any office setting....who do not want to allow new talent to "Invade their Kingdom"). Al Roker on the other hand is very friendly, so are other hosts, other than those 3 Imaginary owners of the show. It is apalling if those idiots think their politics is fine and no-one notices or viewers don't mind that bull @!$%#. God please help me get a job fast so i dont watch these asses playing politics everyday.

I am posting here coz i cud not find a more appropriate place, hoda and lee, or someone on their staff will hopefully get this word to the idiot trio.

I am baffled by Viewer 342's comments regarding Natalie Morales. I haven't perceived any of what he is alluding to. To me, it appears that she has been given more and more interesting topics to cover and has done a great job.

I loved seeing Hoda's pics from her Brazialian Blowout.  Had one myself and love the results and love that I am not the only one with wild crazy hair.  I would love to share a couple of my hair treatment pix with the show but dont know how to do this

I have heard a lot about this keratin treatment BUT there seems to be a huge disparity of information concerning its effect on NATURAL 4C hair! Marcia Teixeira BKT brand has a Chocolate formula for ethnic hair but it is still questionable. There are so many variations to "ethnic" hair that the term is too ambiguous to be trusted. For example, ethnic hair can refer to Halle Berry's mixed wavy texture, Alicia Keys' mixed spiral curly texture to tight, kinky coils and super tight afros--and everything in between. See the concern? And just add that to the price tag for these treatments. So, can anyone testify...with proof?
