Al, Meredith finish the NYC Marathon

Congratulations Al and Meredith! Both finished all 26.2 miles of the New York City Marathon on Sunday!

We showered them with champagne, flowers and foot massages this morning. Watch clips of their journey in the video above.

TODAY's Twitter account followed their progress. Click here to see more pictures from users during the course.

And read an interview of what they were thinking about it days before the race.

Congrats to you both on your finish! Hope you guys got some rest - I volunteered @ the NYCM for years and my husbnad still does. BTW Al, my husband was @ the finish line and said that your wife is as nuts as you are! Match made in heaven?

I am so proud of Meredith and Al. I am 72 years young and just started running 5k at age 70. Came in fourth in two and second in one. Thanks to my 10 year granddaughter for asking me to run. Linda

Congratulations, Meredith and Al! You guys are inspiring--and I can't believe how well you were both moving today! I ran my first (and only) marathon 10 years ago, perhaps it is time to think about a second?

It's great you guys finished the Marathon. But most serious runners will agree, you walked it instead of ran it. I saw Al's time of 7:15 on the finish clock at the end. That calculated out to a little over 4 miles per hour. Slightly faster than a normal walk. So great job on walking 26+ miles. But don't go say you ran it as that just didn't happen.

Aren't you Mr. Self-Important-Better than Everyone? What a nasty unnecessary comment.

Mr. Fuller, so did you run, walk or skip anywhere yesterday? At least Meredith & Al were out on the course getting some exercise and fresh air, and from the looks of the comments below, inspiring some to do the same - a positive influence, and that's something to be proud of!

Al Fuller, I didn't see you name in the top finishers. Mean spirited comment. Al was a trooper and he deserves your respect and congratulations.

Al, I was looking for a fitness goal this summer, and it was announced on The Today Show that you had just completed a half marathon. I said, "If Al can run a half marathon, I can too!" And I did - the Lowell Sun half marathon back on Oct 17. Now I see you've run a marathon. Well, I better start training for that challenge, too. But Al, please please please don't jump out of a plane or swim with sharks because I have to draw the line somewhere. Congratulations to you both!

(Hey, great idea for a new segment: "Whatever Al can do, I can do too!")

How great is that? How long did it take? How long did you train? This has inspired me to train. I am 53 and have never ran a mile in my life. I recently lost 90 lbs and changed my diet and lifestyle to overcome diabetes. I am walking now, but dream of running in this marathon. You have given me hope.

Yeah Team! You ROCK!!! Although Meredith and Al crossed the finish line, it is obvious this was a TODAY show team effort. This ability to complete such an accomplishment speaks to the quality of your team. As you know, training for a marathon is a process.

I only wish Mr Matt Lauer and other members of the media would recognize that overcoming addiction is a process. Please allow me to explain, I am HUGE fan of the TODAY show. As a child, I enjoyed it with my grandmother and as a parent today, when our teenagers are home, they enjoy your wonderful program.

At this time, I wish to suggest a correction to a statement made which was inaccurate, "finally be treated." This semantic indiscretion perpetuates a pervasive myth. There is no way to finally treat addiction, rather addition like marathon training is a life long process. Perhaps NBC would consider this correction since it supports the efforts of other guests, serendipitously, Patrick Kennedy's concerns for mental health.

If I can be of further assistance, please don't hesitate to contact me.

My husband just started doing duathlons 3 years ago (at age 55) and after watching the show this morning, he said he wants to try a marathon! We watch the Today show nearly every morning and love you guys!

Congratulations to both Al and Meredith!! i am proud of you both! and you know what - i am most inspired by your 'real person' times - whenever i hear of someone who finishes a marathon in 4 hours or less, i think 'but no real person can do that'. you both shared your struggles and ups and downs and showed that us 'real people' can do this too!! i run (or rather, i 'schlep', as i call it) and thanks to both of you i am considering running a 1/2 marathon, followed by a marathon.

Great job to you both!!! and don't let the snarkey commenters get to you - it doesn't matter what time you finish - just that you finished!! way to go!!!

Great job Meridith and Al! I can't even imagine keeping the hours both of you do, and yet - you both find time to train for a marathon??? I am so impressed and inspired! For years I have enjoyed listening to, and watching the magic that is Al Roker! No matter where I am in my home as soon as I hear that voice in the morning I smile! Al your humor and ease on air make people feel happy and comfortable! Completing the marathon gives me another reason to respect and admire both of you! I can't wait to see what is next for the Today Show team!
