Guideposts magazine released a list of their 10 most inspirational stories of 2010 -- and they included in it their article about Ann Curry!
Edward Grinnan, a Guideposts magazine editor, wrote that the stories that made the list were ones that changed the editors' perspective on the world.
"An inspirational story moves us in a way other stories don’t; they make us feel more than think, perhaps, and touch us deep in a place most experiences never reach. They can send a shiver down our spines and a ripple through our souls," he wrote. "A great inspirational story never leaves us feeling the same."
In the article about her, Ann explains why she endures the emotional toll of leaving her family to report of stories of human suffering like Hurricane Katrina and the Southeast Asian tsunami: because she believes that it is her job as a journalist to make people care about the world and its future. She calls it an act of faith.

I'm sure the millions of $s she makes each year provides a lot of imspiration to leave her family. She is just another overpaid taking head. Millions of people are seperated from their families by their jobs, but somehow Ann is special.
I don't personally know her so I can't say what her motives are but she really does seem like a genuinely caring person who works pretty hard to report on a lot of different very important issues. She seems like a good person from what I know about what she has done and said in the past but like I said I don't personally know her so who knows.
Well, geeeez, Dennis! Since she's [to you] "just another overpaid taking [talking] head", why did you even bother reading it? Clearly, you have other issues about her income, and your own contrived views of what she's all about....and I suspect that you're quite judgmental about folks you don't even know, or care to know. Maybe you should just stick to reading about dog shows, and auto races, ya' think!?
I'm not a huge fan of main-stream news media...but Ann Curry has always demonstrated integrity and heart in her news reporting, and she always goes after the meaningful stories, not just the 'headline grabbers'.
Congratulations, Ann!!
Glad to have a reporter that is willing to use her voice to inspire others! Thoughts and stories like hers have the potential to tip that first domino, and as they all begin to fall, attitudes will change.
Ann Curry is amazing. Her genuine interest in others and compassion create the best human interest stories out there. Keep up the good work, Ann!
I have always thought Ann has a lot of courage, sincerity, and integrity. She's the reason I still watch the Today show. It's become a little too celebrity-oriented for my taste. Congratulations, Ann.
I have long-admired Ann Curry for her hard work and journalistic excellence. One of the top 10 Tweets of 2010 was Ann asking to clear a landing space in Haiti for Doctors without Borders. She reports the news and responds to the suffering around her without seeking to become the news. She is a true professional.
