As she assumes her seat as a TODAY anchor, Ann Curry announces that she's not filling in for anyone – except herself.
“I’m Ann Curry and I’m in for, I guess, nobody this morning – me, myself and I.” That’s how TODAY’s new co-anchor started her first day after 14 years as the show’s news anchor.
“It’s nice to be able to say that, doesn’t it?” Matt Lauer commented.
“I can’t believe it. It’s such a thrill,” Ann replied. “I really feel like Cinderella – Ann Curry aka Cinderella today.”
“It’s a little bit like a member of the family simply moving to a new seat at the table, and we’re thrilled to have you here,” Matt said, and Studio 1A rang with applause.
“If you’ve been able to put up with me for that long and you’re clapping, that’s a good sign!” Ann exclaimed. Watch the video (above), and see a retrospective of Ann’s eventful 14 years on TODAY.
