Old Spice Guy surprises Matt with a painting -- of Matt

Old Spice Guy Isaiah Mustafa was so touched by Matt's homage to him during Matt's recent Where in the World trip that he created a video response about their friendship.

"We have shared so many amazing travel adventures together, from shark riding in San Jose to ride sharking in Jose San Lucas," Isaiah said in the video (above). "To commemorate these years of loyal brothership, I have painted you this noble friendship portrait."

He then presented a gift to our anchor: A painting with the Old Spice Guy shirtless in a towel and Matt holding a raccoon. There's also inexplicably a giant gummy bear in the painting (which looks like the one we wrote about in our Bites blog).

This "will make a priceless addition to your home and certainly not irritate your wife Annette with its presence," Isaiah said.

After the Old Spice video played on TODAY, Isaiah walked out live on the show to surprise Matt and our anchors with the painting.

"Get out!" Matt said. "I can't believe the trouble you guys went through!"

Ann was certainly impressed. "All I can look at is the bare chest," she said. And while Al (who has his own self-portrait) was hoping the painting would be on velvet cloth, Savannah made a good point to Matt: "This can replace that one you have of yourself already!"

The video is part of a new Old Spice campaign, where the Old Spice Guy becomes the Old Spice Manta Claus, giving out 7 billion gifts in a series of videos. Check it out here.

Isaiah also stopped by Kathie Lee and Hoda's show offering them some presents as well.

"I wanted to celebrate your beauty," he said as he handed them mirrors.

Kathie Lee looked shocked when she looked into it. "That's just what you want when you're 58," Kathie Lee joked.

Check out the video below, which includes Isaiah offering Kathie Lee and Hoda's cameraman a special something as well:

Isaiah surprising our anchors was really fun! But he was a bit of a difficult guest backstage. Just check out his amusing tweet here:

Still, the Old Spice Guy's attention was all worth it for Matt, who became "officially famous" because of it (though that might make doing those lava-chugging charity fun runs a bit more difficult what with the paparazzi and all).

Listen if there was hope that a case of Old Spice would make my husband look like that young man I'd be driving a truck, but alas my man looks more like an Islamic Santa Claus...who just smells REAAAL GOOOOD :->

I think it's nothing more than a marketing gimmick so Old Spice gets their name mentioned numerous times on the program, during the holiday season, and also has this write up, which does the same, and even advertises their twitter account. It also leaves the impression Matt is a $17 million dollar Old Spice man. Simply entertainment marketing manipulation. Nobody is better at it than the Today Show.
