Al impersonates 'The Face' that distracts basketball players

What a face!

University of Alabama freshman Jack Blankenship has become a viral hit by distracting opposing basketball players using a giant poster of his face.

His video has more than 1 million views on YouTube and fans are even stopping the student for autographs on his college campus!

Jack swung by TODAY's plaza this morning and taught Al (a master of face-impersonation) how to make "The Face" in five steps: Flare nostrils, frown, raise eyebrows, make eyes big and inhale.

Did Al pull off 'The Face'?

Steve Veres is an editor for TODAY.com. His parents were fond of saying, "Don't make that face or it will be stuck like that!" And that's the reason he's not a viral Web star.

Is it just me or does anyone else think this is what Beaker from the Muppets would look like if he were human

I am constantly amazed at the things that can make one famous these days. More and more people are getting their fifteen minutes which is pretty awesome.

Just a note: Contrary to what was apparently stated on the show this morning, the University of Alabama did not invent the use of the "Big Heads." Jack merely put his own twist on a trend that was started back in 2002 by the San Diego State University student section, known as The Show.

ESPN The Magazine even featured a full two page photo of the "Big Heads" at an Aztec game back in 2005. We don't mind people borrowing the tradition, but credit for its origination should go where credit is due.
