Connect with TODAY through new Facebook page

    By Steve Veres, TODAY.com

It's a whole new day on Facebook this morning, as TODAY has an updated brand page!

America's favorite morning news show was among a select few chosen to roll out the social networking site's new design, and TODAY's refreshed Facebook page features a new timeline that allows viewers to dive into our 60-year history.

    • Watch our first anchor, Dave Garroway, introduce the world to a different sort of program during our first show in 1952. (A program that later hired a chimpanzee as co-host – a decision that likely saved the broadcast from cancellation.)
    • Relive the royal wedding. Or that other royal wedding! (Or for that matter, TODAY's Halloween royal wedding!)
    • And find your favorite memories of our anchors, including Matt's interview with Tom Cruise, Ann's trip to the South Pole, Al learning to luge and Natalie hang-gliding in Brazil.

Our new page is personalized, too, so you can see your friends' comments in the timeline.

Head on over to Facebook. (And be sure to Like us while you're there!)

Love us? Get the social app for Facebook Timeline, making it simple to share what you’ve been reading and watching on our site. Sign up here.

    TODAY has something to share...

From Sarika Dani, TODAY.com managing editor

    Dear viewers and readers,

We love breaking stories about the things you care about, and you like to be the first to share these stories with your friends. To that end, we’ve launched a new social app for Facebook Timeline that makes it easier to share what you’ve been reading and watching on our site.

Want all your pals to see that viral video of the rescued baby otter or join the debate about whether the French make better parents? Just enable the app and everything you devour on the site will show up on your Facebook Timeline, right next to those updates about your perfect Sunday brunch or that aww-dorable photo of your kid. You’ll also get to see what content your friends are checking out.

But if for some reason you don’t feel like fessing up to reading about Justin Bieber’s latest antics, you can turn the sharing function off at any time. The choice is yours. Just look for the “allow” button on our stories and videos.

You’ll find more details in the explanation here, and please don’t forget to tell me and the TODAY team what you think in the comments below or via email. We’re counting on you to share!

What are you reading? Take a peek at Ann's 'limitless' weekend book list

    NBC

    By Ian Sager, TODAY.com

Ann isn't the type of reporter who sticks to one type of story, so it makes sense that her reading list follows a similar path. The anchor (and apparently, voracious reader) tells TODAY.com what she just can't wait to read this weekend:

I am currently reading the Steve Jobs biography, "Screw Business as Usual," by Richard Branson, the Autobiography of Mahatma Gandhi, and a book on painters composition written in the 15th century.  Strange list, I know, but why should I limit myself?  Like Merlin said to King Arthur in my favorite book, "The Once and Future King":

"The best thing for being sad, is to learn something. That is the only thing that never fails. You may grow old and trembling in your anatomies, you may lie awake in the middle of the night listening to the disorder of your veins, you may miss your only love, you may see the world around you devastated by evil lunatics, or know your honor trampled in the sewers of baser minds. There is only one thing for it then — to learn. Learn why the world wags and what wags it. That is the only thing the mind can never exhaust, never alienate, never be tortured by, never fear or distrust, and never dream of regretting."

What are you itching to read? Is there a book you just can't put down?  Let us know in the comments.

    More from this story:

    • Read an excerpt of Richard Branson's book, "Screw Business as Usual," and watch his most recent interview, below.
    • Click here to learn more about Steve Jobs' biography
    • Bonkers for books? Check out our section dedicated to all things bound and printed.

Mogul Sir Richard Branson talks to TODAY's Matt Lauer about his book "Screw Business As Usual," in which he says being an entrepreneur is about doing good in the world.

Ian Sager is TODAY.com's editorial supervisor. He's looking forward to finally finishing "The Satanic Verses" this weekend. No, seriously, he swears he's really going to finish it this weekend.

Ann reveals what she's thankful for this holiday season

    NBC

    By Ian Sager, TODAY.com

Anchor. Mother. Friend. Journalist. Ann wears many hats throughout the year, but it's clear which one she's proudly waving in the air as we approach the holidays. The anchor tells TODAY.com what she's grateful for this festive period:

This holiday, I am particularly thankful for my children, 16 and 19 now.  After all the years surviving the vast array of parenting heartbreaks, to see your children become people you not only love but deeply admire is really something.

I honestly want nothing more from Christmas than to stare at them, which of course is impossible, because well, it's just too weird.

To every mother and father I say every kiss, every hug, every moment of patience you give your children is never wasted.  You will see.

What are you thankful for? Tell us in the comments and we'll update this post later in the day.

    Update: 12/16/2011 at 1:00 p.m. ET

Thanks to everyone who wrote in and revealed what they're thankful for. Here are just a few of the Facebook comments that resonated with us:

Rebecca Marchand My 25 year old son, who struggled desperately after we lost my husband to the terrorist attacks on 9/11/01, has followed in Alfrd Marchands footsteps & will graduate tomorrow as a United Airlines Flight Attendant... I am more proud than I've ever been...

Antonia Owens I am thankful for my fiance who is still in Iraq, and my family who has keep me going.

Morton Horowitz I Concur. Love & admire my children as well. Also their spouses. All of whom became wholesome adults with fantastic parental attributes. Thank God.

Janett Mary Massey-Jacobsen My husband is with me after having heart surgery for the 2nd time. Jake & his heart is now healthy & he will be will be for a long time to come ♥

Ann gets Facebook Timeline, guest-edits TODAY's page

    NBC

    By Ian Sager, TODAY.com

The ever-changing world of social media is poised to take a left turn – again.

Facebook has released its new profile view, Timeline, and Ann is among a small group who launched the new format.

Britney Spears and Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow were among those who joined Ann in the shift (see their pages at the bottom of this post).

Facebook hopes Timeline gives users the ability to tell a richer version of their life story, and we at TODAY.com feel there's no better person to test with than a globe-trotting anchor-superwoman who seems equally at ease with the Dalai Lama as she does Nadya Suleman and her adventurous octuplets.

To mark Ann's online transformation, she'll be guest-editing the TODAY Facebook page all day. From favorite reads to her take on the top news, keep an eye on Facebook for updates from Ann.

Kate Aronowitz, global director of design for Facebook, unveils a new timeline feature that creates a diary through posts and photos, and gives a sneak peek of Ann Curry's page.

Facebook employees explain how Timeline features work, and offer tips for creating a robust profile.

Savannah answers viewer questions, reveals her bucket list

TODAY's Savannah Guthrie answers viewers' Facebook questions and reveals who she is named after, what sparked her interest in journalism and the top three items on her bucket list.

    By Katie Quinn

Here in the TODAY.com office, we love Savannah Guthrie, the newest addition to the TODAY show team. She manages to be fiercely intelligent and loveably funny at the same time.

Well, it seems we’re not the only ones to appreciate the spunk and smarts she brings to the screen. We asked you to send questions for Savannah on the TODAY Facebook page and received nearly 400 in less than eight hours!

After sifting through all of them, we narrowed it down to the eight most frequently asked and most intriguing questions. Her height, her inspiration and the origins of her name were commonly queried, but there were some wildcards thrown in, too!

Savannah was absolutely game to answer anything and you may be surprised by some of her responses.

Here is the first of two videos in which she answers your questions. Come back tomorrow for the second!
