TODAY picked up six Daytime Emmy nominations this morning, including one for Outstanding Morning Program!
The broadcast has won the category for the last two years. "Hopefully these things come in threes," Kathie Lee told Entertainment Weekly's Jessica Shaw, who made the announcement live on TODAY.
TODAY also received a nod for New Approaches in Daytime Entertainment for the TODAY.com show, a live March 2011 webcast that ran simultaneously as TODAY was broadcasting on TV. Check it out here.
The six nominations for TODAY include:
- Outstanding Morning Program
- New Approaches — Daytime Entertainment
- Outstanding Promotional Announcement — Episodic
- Outstanding Directing in a Talk Show / Morning Program
- Outstanding Achievement in Live & Direct to Tape Sound Mixing
- Outstanding Achievement in Main Title and Graphic Design
One more note: The 84th Annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, the NBC staple co-hosted by Matt, Ann and Al, received four nominations.
The Daytime Emmy award ceremony will be held on June 23. Find all of the nominees here. Eligible programs were broadcast between 2 a.m. and 6 p.m. during the 2011 calendar year.
